Oshidori-gakushi Falls is one of the waterfalls along Shibukawa River. It is located up in the mountains, in the highland thermal resort of Oku Tateshina, a few steps’ away from Mishaka Pond and Yokoya Gorge.
The three-tier waterfall is very lovely, especially in autumn when the surrounding foliage turns red. A special kind of moss called Chatsubomi Moss grows underwater, on the rocks and riverbed, thus creating a stunning contrast between the azure water, the emerald moss and the reddish rocks.
A narrow mountain trail connects Oshidori-gakushi Falls to the main section of Yokoya Gorge, so you can stop by while hiking.
