Made with agar seaweed and water, kanten (agar agar) is a healthy vegetarian ingredient used as a sort of jelly. As the production process requires temperatures way below zero and dry weather, Chino has been the number one kanten producer in Japan for over 200 years.
At Matsuki Kanten's exhibition hall you can learn about kanten, do a tasting of various products and even shop.
