Oren Goya is a mountain hut close to the Sakuradaira trailhead. A great base when trekking the central area of the Yatsugatake Mountains, staying here can help you lighten your baggage and make your hike easier.
From there, you can explore both the jagged Southern Yatsugatake, with its stunning sceneries and staggering collection of alpine plants, and the otherworldly Northern Yatsugatake, with its mossy primeval forests.
Thanks to its location by a water source, the lodge features a quaint cypress bath with a wonderful natural view from the window.
There are both private rooms and a large common room. If you prefer to set up your own tent, they also have a camping site in front of the building. For dinner, you can sample the local specialty of horse meat sukiyaki (a hot pot seasoned with soy sauce, sugar, and mirin). They also serve light meals during the say such as borsch soup, curry rice, and ramen.
