Over 180 works by Kiyoshi Yamashita are displayed at Houro Museum. Most of the exhibits are pieces the artist made for the people he encountered in his travels as a token of gratitude, and they include chigiri-e images made with pieces of torn colored paper, pen drawings, painted pottery and more. One of the most iconic pieces on display is a chigiri-e called "Fireworks at Lake Suwa", an elaborated and emotional rendering of a local festivity.
